Review - iPod Nano

UPDATE: In February my husband bought another Nano because he had effectively "stole" mine. He got me the 4 gig for double the fun:) He uses his for work and has found that he cannot stand when it runs out of juice on the road, so he bought his own charger/transmitter combo. Another item he discovered that we now both have is Apple brand Lanyard Earphones. These are awesome, I can wear my Nano like a necklace and have just one earbud in. Warning these earbuds are very high tech and block out almost all exterior noise. Also, if you go to a local store these Earbuds are 49.99, Amazon is cheapest that I have seen for them.

Oh my goodness, I am in music heaven. I bought this little gem (the 2 gig version) for my trip to Yellowstone and have loaded it up with 360 songs. I bought it to load music and Audio books for easy listening when I am on the road. My only complaint is the scratches. When I bought it there were no accessories to be found. I read that the front is VERY susceptible to scratching. Mine has not been in any pockets, purses etc. I had it sitting in the cab of the RV the whole trip, or it was in back on the table getting loaded up. Now I am being very careful with it while I keep a lookout for a good cover. I will also have to buy a scratch removal product to try and recover some of its newness...Still, it is a remarkable gizmo! Update: I did get a protective screen lens and scratch remover. Now I carry my Nano with me as God intended!

My accessories list:
  • Belkin FM transmitter
  • Belkin 12v iPod charger
  • Protective Screen cover
  • Scratch remover - bought Brasso per online recommendations, it works ok on the shallow scratches
  • >
  • Case - bought a clear rubber slip on case and called it good.

Some other things that the Nano can do that you might not know about:
  • Has a clock system you can configure with multiple times...
  • Uses outlook contact files to keep a list of contacts for you.
  • Has password protection so if someone steals your precious Nano, all they can do is look at it, or use it as a very tiny boat anchor
  • It can store notes, in .txt file format that you type up on your PC and download to the Nano
  • >
  • It has a nice set of games including breakout and solitaire. Note: The touch pad is a bit of work to get used to, but hey, its a good way to while away the time if you are bored
  • It has an alarm clock. I tested that it will go off even if it is in "off" mode
  • It has a stopwatch for those moments when you have to time something:)

  • I have found a very thorough review of the Nano. I am not willing to try to stress out my own unit and this review includes a thorough stress test. It also includes a detailed analysis of the inner workings of it.
