May 5, 2007 Shakedown run | | We didn't really have a plan, so we took off for the north figuring we would find something in Bellingham. We didn't leave until 1pm to make sure we could get checked in right away. The purpose of this trip remember is to test out the rig, its setup, use and break down. We drove past a couple of places, not liking how urban they looked, and settled on Birch Bay state park. There were a couple of hookup spots free for $25/night which was perfect for our needs. Right next to us was a tent camper with a family of 5 whew...thats a handful. All systems worked. I hooked everything up, washed dishes, took a nice long shower, its a great shower, lots of room and the skylight adds brightness and headroom to it. I spent the evening organizing and labeling.
It rained on us that night and was sprinkling in the morning. We lounged till 9:30 then headed out to go to Camping World for a few things. I really wanted the Maxxair vent covers so the vents can be open in the rain. Also on the list was a drop hitch for the trailer. I had hooked it up and drove it around the block with the truck's hitch and that did not work out at all, the new RV has much higher ground clearance than either the truck or the old RV, so it gets its own hitch.
While driving down the highway in the rain, I noticed on the end of the wiper control a weird set of controls that had symbols I did no recognize as part of the wiper system. it had an arrow pointing to a half moon on end with little tick marks, and below was a slider with the symbols "0" then a "|" and a "+". Could it be I thought? so I was brave and pushed the button, on came a green indicator on the dash that said "Cruise". SWEET! I was soooo happy that this fancy new rig DID come with cruise control after all. Found everything we needed at Camping World, and got home by 1pm. |
